The Baylor Scott & White Health PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Our PGY2 program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY1 residency programs to contribute to the development of pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. Our program provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy.
Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy administration should possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist and/or faculty positions and position them to be eligible for attainment of board certification in specialized practice area (when board certification for the practice area exists).
We accept one resident each year. Start date is July 1.
The program is structured into block experiences that are two to four months in duration, tailored to each individual resident's needs:
Residents are required to design, develop and complete a major project related to pharmacy management. Residents present the project as a poster at ASHP’s Mid-Year Clinical Meeting and as a platform presentation at the ALCALDE Southwest Leadership Conference. A written manuscript is required to be submitted to the program director prior to completion of the program.
Residents are required to prepare one 60-minute presentation for ACPE credit on an approved pharmacy leadership or management topic, complete with slides and handout.
Residents are required to coordinate and present the findings of a MUE at the system level.
