Test to monitor your sleep
If you choose to get more information about your sleep disorder, you may need a polysomnogram.
A polysomnogram is a continuous recording of selected body functions during sleep, which together determine sleep stages.
The test also records:
- Brain waves
- Eye movements
- Muscle tone
- Heart rate
- Rhythm sleep movements
- Snoring sound
In patients with possible sleep apnea, breathing, oxygen level and carbon dioxide levels are often also recorded.
Additional polysomnographic measurements can be made in a patient with other suspected disorders.
