Dr. Laurel Kilpatrick is a practicing palliative care physician and has served as Director of the Division of Supportive Palliative Care at Scott & White Medical Center since 2015. As a clinician educator, she has focused on teaching communication skills, basic palliative care principles and advance care planning to healthcare professionals in all stages of training. She was selected as a John A Hartford Foundation ‘Hartford Center of Excellence Scholar’ 2012-2014 and was 1 of 10 leaders selected nationally for the Practice Change Leaders Program in 2016 (also a John A. Hartford Foundation program). She has served as the inaugural Program Director for the Tom & Carly Burdette Memorial Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship from 2021-2023. She is the Co-Director for the BSWH Serious Illness Conversation & Care Planning Program (SICP) and is the current Chair of the Women Leaders in Medicine Executive Committee.
